Major General (R) Stanhope Spears Joins American Business Development Group

Arlington, VA, 31 May, 2011 – Major General (R) Stanhope “Stan” Spears has joined ABDG as a member of our Advisory Board. General Spears will help round out the ABDG Board by bringing his 38 years of Commissioned military service to our team.

General Spears’ final military assignment was as The Adjutant General (TAG) of South Carolina. The only popularly-elected Adjutant General in the United States, General Spears attained the federally recognized rank of Brigadier General prior to his election in 1994, he was promoted to Major General soon after his election. General Spears commanded at all tactical levels through Battalion and Commanded State Area Headquarters Elements prior to becoming Assistant TAG and TAG.

General Spears and his wife Dot remain tireless advocates for the Citizen Soldier and the National Guard family.
