Dennis Thomas Director of Defense Automotive Operations

Dennis Thomas is Director of Defense Automotive Operations (DAO) of the American Business Development Group, an internationally respected, full-spectrum business development consulting firm, now representing a diverse list of over fifty prominent U.S. and international businesses. American Business Development Group enjoys a reputation as the largest business development firm in the United States which specializes in the re-equipping and modernization of the United States Armed Forces. The firm has facilitated more than $680,000,000 in “new found sales” for client companies in the last year and historically each year for the last four years.

Mr. Thomas brings a unique blend of over twenty years of sales and marketing leadership at the executive level. He has a proven track record of successfully leading business development organizations in achieving: revenue growth, improved profitability, increased market penetration and customer diversification through strategic partnerships. He has experience in technical sales, strategic planning, marketing, proposal development and negotiation.

He began his sales and marketing career with TRW, where he spent eleven years in the automotive sector and quickly moved into several sales management roles. Mr. Thomas then joined Worthington Industries’ Precision Metals Division, where he served as Vice President of Sales. During his nine years at Worthington, the company tripled in size, expanded manufacturing operations and achieved significant strategic alliances in Japan and Europe. As the Director of Sales and Marketing for several manufacturing and testing firms serving the government and major OEM clients in the defense, commercial, automotive and alternative energy markets, he was responsible for establishing new strategic partnerships in the US, as well as global alliances in both Europe and China.

Over the past several years, as Director of Business Development, his focus has been on providing design, manufacturing, integration and assembly solutions for the U.S. military and major prime defense contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Navistar, AM General, and Northrop Grumman.

A native of Warren, Ohio, Mr. Thomas received his BA degree in History at Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio. He received a Graduate Assistantship and his MA degree at Akron University, in Akron, Ohio. He and his wife have two children and reside in the Clarkston, Michigan area.
