Mr. Ben DeMarco is a Senior Consultant with American Business Development Group an internationally respected, full-spectrum business development consulting firm. American Business Development Group enjoys a reputation as one of the largest business development firms in the United States which specializes in the re-equipping and modernization of the United States Armed Forces.
Mr. DeMarco’s career with the US Army began in November 1971 as a test director at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. Following his departure from active duty in 1973, he joined the US Army Tank Automotive Command where he retired from in 2009. During his tenure at the Command he served in many positions most notably as the Systems Engineering Division Chief for the Bradley Fighting Vehicle from 1992 to 2002. As the Division Chief in Bradley he was responsible for all life cycle engineering aspects of a fleet of nearly 6000 vehicles fielded worldwide. This included development and design management, vehicle safety, configuration management and environmental management. The scope of these efforts included depot support at Red River Army Depot, new vehicle production in York, PA, transmission and turret drive production in Muskegon, MI and engine production in Indianapolis, IN. Direct staff management included 50 engineering positions and the engineering management of OEM efforts for the basic vehicle and the transmission turret drive system and engine. He also worked with many tier 2 and 3 manufacturers as they produced spare parts for the fielded fleet.
In 2002 he moved from the Program Office to the Tank Automotive Research and Development Command. While at TARDEC he held the position of Deputy Director within the National Automotive Center. As Deputy Director he directed four teams of engineers involved in fuel cells, advanced fuels, alternative propulsion, automotive technologies and advanced manufacturing. He established strategic plans to meet short, medium and long term technology needs and directed programs to ensure that technology contracts delivered value added products from many varied contractors.
Mr. DeMarco earned his bachelor’s degree from Michigan Technological University in 1971. He and his family reside in Troy, Michigan. His son attends MTU and his daughter resides in the area and teaches middle school.
