Charlie Powley Aerospace Operations Consultant

Charlie Powley (Colonel, Air National Guard retired) is an Aerospace Operations consultant with American Business Development Group, an internationally respected, full-spectrum business development-consulting firm, now representing a diverse list of over fifty prominent U.S. and international businesses. American Business Development Group enjoys a reputation as one of the largest business development firms in the United States which specializes in the re-equipping and modernization of the United States Armed Forces.

Mr. Powley, a native of Roxboro, NC, received an ROTC commission in 1986 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics. After completing navigator training at Mather Air Force Base, California, Mr. Powley attended B-52 training at Castle Air Force Base, California. In 1988, he was assigned to the 7th Bomb Wing at Carswell Air Force Base, Texas where he flew as an evaluator navigator in the B-52H. He then attended Undergraduate Pilot Training at Reese Air Force Base, Texas from 1991-1992 where he was a distinguished graduate, Academic Ace, Academic Training Award winner, Citizenship Award winner and T-37 “Top Stick”. In 1992, he attended C-130 Initial Qualification Training at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas.

In December 1992, Mr. Powley was assigned to the 41st Airlift Squadron at Pope Air Force Base, North Carolina. While assigned at Pope, he was an Instructor Pilot, Squadron Executive Officer, Flight Commander, and Chief of Wing Scheduling. In May 1997, he was assigned to the C-130 Formal Training Unit at Little Rock Air Force Base as an Assistant Director of Operations and Evaluator pilot.

Mr. Powley left active duty in 2000 to fly operationally for the 156th Airlift Squadron in North Carolina’s Air National Guard and commercially for Delta Air Lines. In 2002, he returned to active duty and was appointed as the Training Branch Chief for the National Guard Bureau. His succeeding job responsibilities consisted of the Division Chief for Operations Training. In this capacity, he provided direct supervision to five branches, including 26 military personnel, seven civilians, 27 functional managers and action officers supporting Combatant Commanders and operations support for 88 ANG flying wings, 1,000+ aircraft and 106,000 Airmen in the Air National Guard.

Mr. Powley deployed numerous times in support of Operations PROVIDE PROMISE, MAINTAIN DEMOCRACY, VIGILANT WARRIOR, NOBLE EAGLE and ENDURING FREEDOM, performing combat operations in both Bosnia and Afghanistan. In 25 years of duty, Powley has amassed over 4500 hours (200 combat) flying/navigating T-37, T-38, B-52G/H, B-737 and C-130E/H3 aircraft. His military decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Aerial Achievement Medal and Air Force Commendation Medal.

Mr. Powley has a Masters degree in Technology and currently resides in Bristow, VA with his wife, Julie, and his sons, Sean and Ethan.
