Gordon L. Merritt Senior Consultant

Gordon Merritt is a Senior Consultant with American Business Development Group, an internationally respected, full-spectrum business development consulting firm, now representing a diverse list of over fifty prominent U.S. and international businesses. American Business Development Group enjoys a reputation as one of the largest business development firms in the United States which specializes in the re-equipping and modernization of the United States Armed Forces.

Mr. Merritt serves as a government relations and legislative affairs consultant to a number of major defense-related companies.

A career Army officer, Mr. Merritt retired as a highly decorated combat veteran. Throughout his career he served in various command and staff positions, including two tours in Vietnam with Army Aviation assignments. His final Army assignment was Chief of the Plans Branch in the Army’s Legislative Liaison organization, responsible for representing the Army’s annual budget to Congress. During this period, the Army won final Congressional approval for both the M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank and the Bradley Fighting Vehicle.

After retiring from the Army, Mr. Merritt served as Director of Congressional Affairs and Government Relations with Hughes Aircraft Company and later with Raytheon. He has more than 25 years experience working directly with Members and staff of the U. S. Congress on wide ranging issues.

Mr. Merritt is a graduate of the University of Richmond and received his Master’s Degree in History from the University of Idaho. He is also a graduate of the Defense Systems Management College.
