Michael Hurst Vice President Land Systems

Michael Hurst is Vice President of Land Systems for American Business Development Group, an internationally respected, full-spectrum business development consulting firm, now representing a diverse list of over fifty prominent U.S. and international businesses. American Business Development Group enjoys a reputation as the largest business development firm in the United States which specializes in the re-equipping and modernization of the United States Armed Forces.

Mr. Hurst brings to ABDG a unique blend of commercial, defense contractor, and military experience. His background in commercial business, where he was the Director of Original Equipment Sales for a multi-national corporate headquartered in Brazil. He has over fourteen years of experience in program management, technical sales and marketing. His positions have been in both the heavy truck and automotive markets. During this time, he also worked in the areas of quality, delivery, technical support, training, and field service.

As the son of a career Army Military Intelligence Officer, Mr. Hurst spent nine years in Europe. He graduated from Tennessee Technological University with a degree in Industrial Engineering and was immediately sworn into the Army. After completing the Ordnance Officer’s Basic Course at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Mike was stationed at TACOM. During his four years at TACOM, Mike was assigned to the PM, Tactical Vehicles in the areas of testing, logistics, production and procurement. Some of his duties included fielding the first HEMTTs, providing APG test monitoring, and acting as a member of the 5 Ton A2 Source Selection team.

Mr. Hurst also worked for Barnes and Reinecke, Inc as the Program Manager, Wheeled Vehicle Systems. He managed prototype, specialty vehicle and engineering support programs. Specific duties included defining, executing, and tracking program schedules and managing a cross-functional matrix team of engineers, logisticians, and fabrication personnel.

He has a Master of Business Administration from Wayne State University, and attended the Program Management Course of American Graduate University.

He and his wife, Mary Jo, have two sons, Austin and Spencer. The Hurst family lives in Wolverine Lake, Michigan. They enjoy golf, snowboarding, skiing, and traveling the U.S.
