Major General (R) William A. Navas, Jr. Joins American Business Development Group

Arlington, VA, July 11, 2011 – American Business Development Group (ABDG) is pleased to announce that retired Army Major General William A. Navas, Jr. has accepted the position of Senior Advisor with the company. General Navas retired from Federal service in January 2011 and brings more than 45 years of combined military and civilian government experience to the ABDG team. His most recent assignment was as a member of the Senior Executive Service as Director of the National Security Integration Office.

In 2001, General Navas was appointed as Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Manpower and Reserve Affairs, and, for the next six years, led the Navy’s efforts to modernize and improve its personnel management policies.

Prior to his assignment with the Department of the Navy, General Navas spent more than 33 years as a commissioned officer in the United States Army, culminating in his appointment as Director, Army National Guard. In that position from 1995 – 1998, he was responsible for managing a $6 billion annual budget and for the training, equipping and readiness of more than 367,000 citizen-soldiers across 54 US states and territories.

ABDG President and CEO Bill Skipper said, “the addition of General Navas to our team will not only provide strategic depth in support of our Guard and Reserve programs but will further enhance ABDG’s efforts in the maritime and expeditionary warfare area. His knowledge and experience will greatly complement a maritime team that includes Major General (USMC Retired) Harry Jenkins, Captain (USN Retired) John Kidder and Captain Kelly Royer (USMC Retired).

Another member of the ABDG senior advisory group, retired Army Major General Allen Youngman, former Adjutant General of Kentucky, said, “having Billy Navas on board will provide ABDG’s clients an unparalleled source of strategic insights and practical advice. I can think of no one who is more respected within the US defense establishment or who has a better grasp of how things really work in our nation’s capital.”
